‘We Rise’ Teaches Balimtore Youth About Home Ownership, Financial Literacy

It's never too early to think about building wealth and building a better future.

A Baltimore organization, "We Rise," is teaching middle school and high school students about financial education and homeownership with the hopes of helping them break cycles of poverty in the city.

Vacant homes along East Federal Street serve as a classroom for young people in Baltimore City looking to learn what it takes to reach success.

"I learn about the housing, the marketing behind it, the business, the relationships," Ronald Smith, a participant in the We Rise program, said.

Smith is one of several students in We Rise. He met the program's founder, Todd Scott, while he was in a program in the juvenile justice system.
